Bird Education
At PFMA we are keen to encourage children to reconnect with nature. We hope that these beautifully designed materials - developed with teacher colleagues and members - will improve children’s understanding and appreciation of wild birds, as well as numeracy and literacy skills!
These activites can be used by KS2 teachers and by parents or carers at home. Our worksheets encourage children to count birds and write about the different types.
Family Fun Worksheets:
If your children need some entertaining this weekend or during the holidays, why not spend time spotting birds and record numbers on our beautiful Top Ten birds poster. Our Fact File will help give you all the background information you need and then create a beautiful poster about your favourite bird.
English Lesson Plan:
This lesson is suitable for a KS2 English lesson - ideally a Year 5 or 6 class. During the lesson children will create an information poster about a range of birds. We suggest that teachers print off or have access to the content of our toolkit:

Maths Lesson Plan:
This lesson is suitable for KS2 Maths lesson – ideally Year 3 or 4 class. However, it can be adapted for Year 5 or 6 children by organising data as pie charts. We suggest that teachers print off or have access to the content of our toolkit:
